Gear up, bus wankers, The Inbetweeners is coming back.
The hugely successful Channel 4 sitcom, which followed the hugely relatable teenage lives of four friends, has become of the channel’s most enduring hits and even spawned two massively successful big screen outings.
Now, creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris’ have confirmed that their production company, Fudge Park, has signed a new partnership with Banijay UK, which “paves the way for the return of the hit comedy title”.
“Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends),” they teased.

Details remain vague, but they say that the deal “unlocks the rights and the potential to bring The Inbetweeners back for new audiences across a range of platforms including film, TV, and stage”.
Banijay UK chief executive, Patrick Holland, added that he was “delighted to pick up the conversation about the future” of The Inbetweeners with Morris and Morris.
“They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audience old and new so I can’t wait to get going,” he said.
The show first broadcast on E4 between 2008 and 2010, following the teenage lives of socially awkward sixth-formers Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison), and Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), as they navigate their late teens.
Two films then followed, including 2011’s The Inbetweeners Movie which followed their first ever lads holiday to Malia, and a 2014 sequel which saw them travelling across Australia.
In November 2018, the cast took part in a special reunion show to mark the show’s 10 year anniversary, but it was panned by fans of the show as it was delivered as more of a clips format than celebrating the show. Buckley even issued a public apology at the time, writing in a post: I’m sorry to anyone who feels let down with last night’s show… I’m especially upset as it really is the fans that made The Inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasn’t me.”
In August last year, Thomas also said the cast were eager to return. “All of us feel it would be nice to do,” he told the Always Be Comedy podcast. “We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it.”
