As she prepares to release new music, the London-born singer-songwriter shares her favourite spots in Los Angeles.

According to Amy Steele, she’s been travelling between London and Los Angeles while working on new music. She says spending time in LA has given her a change of scenery and a chance to connect with the local music scene.

Between studio sessions, Steele has been exploring the city’s restaurants, live music venues and nightlife. Here, she shares some of her favourite places.

Verse LA — Where Music Becomes an Experience

Verse is one of Steele’s favourite places to experience live music in LA. Created by Grammy-winning mixing engineer Manny Marroquin, the restaurant puts considerable emphasis on sound, with an acoustic design intended to complement its live performances.

For Steele, it’s the combination of sound and food that makes it special. Music becomes part of the sensory experience of the meal, rather than something happening in the background.

Steele says one of her favourite nights was watching Terrace Martin perform on saxophone. She remembers the way his performance developed, the emotion in the music and how beautifully the sound filled the room.

Shangri-La Studios — Where Creativity Finds Its Space

Shangri-La Studios is a recording studio in Malibu that has hosted a range of well-known musicians over the years.

For Steele, it represents the side of Los Angeles she loves: a place where creativity feels limitless, where music takes centre stage and where the surroundings invite artists to slow down, experiment and find inspiration.

Lost DTLA — Rooftop Nights and LA Energy

For pure fun, Steele loves Lost, the downtown rooftop bar from the team behind Hilltop Coffee, whose wider story includes a collaboration with Issa Rae.

With skyline views, great music and a lively, effortlessly social atmosphere, Lost embodies everything Steele enjoys about LA nightlife. It’s the kind of place where you arrive with friends, meet interesting people and spend the entire evening under the Los Angeles sky.

Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles — A Taste of Soul

No LA visit is complete without soul food, and Roscoe’s is one of Steele’s favourites.

Roscoe’s is known for its fried chicken and waffles, a combination that has made it a familiar stop for visitors looking for Southern-style comfort food in LA.

Between recording sessions, live performances and nights discovering the city, Los Angeles continues to play an important part in Steele’s creative journey.

With her new single arriving soon, it’s clear that this next chapter is only just beginning.
