Oktavvia Doesn’t Make Music to Make You Cry. She Makes It to Make You Stand Up.

There is a version of dark pop that wallows. That sits in sadness and asks you to sit there with it. Oktavvia has no interest in that version.
“Loss doesn’t make me write sadder music. It’s the opposite,” she says. “The harder things get, the more I look for strength in music. I don’t sing so we can cry together. I sing so we can stand up together.”
Based in Canada, Oktavvia released her latest singles in 2026 and immediately drew attention for the contrast in her sound: dark pop / electro pop that holds tension and release in the same breath. Her music sits in the space between vulnerability and defiance, built on cinematic electronic production where there are no shortcuts on quality. She works with the best and demands the best.
“Tension is exciting,” she says. “The journey toward something, which we tend to forget about when we’re fixated on the result, can be the most thrilling ride of your life.”
The philosophy
Oktavvia’s music operates on a core belief: that people are stronger than they think, and that music can be the thing that reminds them.
But it is not only about endurance. Her songs also carry a sharp rejection of being shaped by others, whether by people, trends, or the noise of social media. The message is not just “you can survive this.” It is “you decide who you are.”
“I believe people are strong and can handle even the toughest times,” she says. “I hope they find words in my music that give them that strength.”
That is not motivational-poster optimism. Her songs do not skip the pain to get to the uplift. They sit in it, acknowledge it, and then move through it. The result is dark pop that feels honest because it does not pretend that everything is fine, but refuses to accept that things cannot get better.
“In life it’s the same way: one moment you’re fragile, the next you get up and fight,” she explains. “In every moment I try to find the strength to keep going. My songs are just like me, unpredictable. I don’t control the process, I just trust it.”
The evidence
The approach is resonating. Her latest singles have reached over 200K streams on Spotify alone. She performed live at the Miss Supranational and Mister Supranational galas. Her live performances go beyond the music: full audiovisual productions with lighting design, projections, pyrotechnics, and choreographed dancers. Every single comes with its own music video, each one designed as an integral part of the song’s message.
The project is built on independence by design: she shapes every song’s atmosphere and emotional direction alongside her producer, controls the visual identity and live show, and maintains control over every aspect of the rollout.
“I’ve always been an untamed individualist,” she says. “I never let anyone change me or put me in a box.”
What’s ahead
A full-length album is currently in production, with plans for expanded live shows. Her next single, “My Desire,” arrives in the second half of November 2026, with a music video currently being filmed. For listeners who want dark pop that does more than sit in the dark, Oktavvia is building something worth standing up for.
“I want them to know one thing: what they hear is the truth,” she says. “But at the same time, I’d like to remain an enigma. Because the best is still ahead of me, and I plan to keep surprising.”
