School of Rock announces launch of second London location in Bayswater
The world’s largest music education franchise, known for its patented performance-based method, is bringing its flagship UK school to Bayswater following the success of its first UK location in Twickenham
School of Rock, the global music education franchise that teaches students of all ages and skill levels to play, perform and progress as musicians, has announced the opening of its second UK school in Bayswater, west London.
The new school will open at 40a Porchester Road and comes after the brand’s debut UK school in Twickenham attracted more than 280 students in its first seven months.
Though once a local pub, the Bayswater site is now being transformed into a music school across a ground floor and two mezzanine levels and will feature five rehearsal rooms and nine individual lesson rooms. An impressive £800,000 fit out and state of the art equipment is also on the table, with design renders showcasing a welcoming, bold, performance space built for young and adult aspiring musicians.
The opening has been officially approved by Westminster Council, and School of Rock is also inviting and encouraging the wider Bayswater community and surrounding areas including local venues, schools and children’s activity providers to get involved.

School of Rock Bayswater will offer the brand’s full programme lineup: Little Wing, Rookies, Rock 101, the Performance Program, Songwriting, and Adults Performance programmes. The Performance Program for teens remains the brand’s core offering, but the school is built for all ages and all skill levels.
“This is one of the friendliest and most inspiring ways to get into music – performing in a band, getting on a real stage, and playing in venues where some of the biggest rock stars have performed,” said Matias Puga-Hamilton, the UK School of Rock Franchisor. “At a time when many parents are looking for meaningful alternatives to screen time and more creative outlets for their children, we’re seeing huge demand for something more social, confidence-building and real. It’s not just a school – it’s a club and a community. The response in Twickenham has been incredible, and Bayswater is an exciting next step as we continue expanding across London and the UK.”
To mark the launch, School of Rock will run free demonstration sessions, giving prospective students a condensed, 1.5-hour taste of the full School of Rock experience ahead of enrolment.
The new school is expected to create around 25 musician roles and 5 admin roles for the local community in Bayswater.
“We believe there is huge untapped demand for performance based music education across the UK, especially in light of the recent social media ban” added Matias Puga-Hamilton. “Our goal is to make this experience accessible to far more young people and adults – giving them the chance to build skills, confidence and community through music.”
