4 albums you need to hear this week
With music from Lorde, Kevin Abstract, Bruce Springsteen and Motörhead

In the age of streaming, it’s never been easier to listen to new music — but with over 60,000 new songs added to Spotify every day, it’s also never been harder to know what to put on. Every week, the team at Rolling Stone UK will run down some of the best new releases that have been added to streaming services.
This week we’ve highlighted records from Lorde, Kevin Abstract, Bruce Springsteen and Motörhead.

Lorde – Virgin
Lorde told Rolling Stone UK that her fourth album, Virgin, sees her returning to a “really essential, pure” version of herself. The record, which sees her move away from working with Jack Antonoff to instead team up with Jim-E Stack, is full of straight-from-the-gut feelings on ageing, growing into your body and more. It’s her most unfiltered record yet.

Kevin Abstract – Blush
Since the dissolution of Brockhampton, the boyband’s leader Kevin Abstract has continued to evolve and widen his genre palette. Latest release Blush is a collaborative record with the artistic community he has cultivated in his new home of Houston. He calls the new sound ‘Texas Pop’, and while his claim that the record will “change everything you know about pop music” is a little bit of a stretch, the restless and endlessly creative polymath’s continued striving for new ground remains fascinating to follow.

Bruce Springsteen – Tracks II: The Lost Albums
In the midst of a huge European stadium tour, punctuated by a deeply political feeling laid out on a new live EP, and an upcoming feature film starring Jeremy Allen White, Bruce Springsteen is also finding time in 2025 to dive deep back into the archives. Tracks II: The Lost Albums is the second edition in the rarities series, and unearths 83 songs from between 1983 and 2018. It comprises seven full-length records never heard before, fleshing out the world of one of the greatest living songwriters.

Motörhead – The Manticore Tapes
Also digging back through the archives are Motörhead, whose new release The Manticore Tapes goes right back to their formation. Laid down in 1976, these unheard songs immortalise the creation of the band’s iconic ‘Three Amigos’ line-up – Lemmy (bass/vocals), Fast Eddie Clarke (guitar) and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor (drums). It shows the first steps towards the band becoming metal royalty, in all their fast, filthy glory.
