Alewya drops sensual new single ‘Play’ and announces debut EP
The multi-talented Londoner's debut EP arrives November 18

Alewya has unveiled ‘Play’, the latest single from her forthcoming debut EP.
‘Play’ is a vibrant, shape-shifting R&B anthem that acts as a smart showcase for the hotly-tipped artist’s diverse musical palette.
It prefaces Panther in Mode, her seven-track debut, which arrives on November 18 via Because London.
The track marks another hook-up with producer Busy Twist, who was also behind the desk for ‘Sweating’, which handed Alewya her breakthrough in the summer of 2020.
Opening up on the track, Alewya describes ‘Play’ as “a song about my love and gratitude for pleasure and play, and how it has and can unlock deeper feelings of connections.”
“It’s overtly feminine, innately primal, and most of all light and fun!
Alewya will head out on tour in the UK in support of Little Simz in November and December, and looks well-placed to follow in the hotly-tipped footsteps of her friend fellow Londoner.
Among her early career milestones are a place on the Dazed 100, radio play from Annie Mac and a stamp of approval from LOVE magazine, who called her a “triple threat”.
