A new documentary looking back at the storied career of Iron Maiden will arrive in cinemas this May.

Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, directed by Malcolm Venville, features extensive interviews with the band themselves as well as their co-manager Rod Smallwood and famous fans such as Javier Bardem, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and Public Enemy’s Chuck D.

A synopsis reads: “With unprecedented access to official band archives, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition charts five decades of one of the most iconic journeys in music history. Featuring interviews with the band and contributors such as Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich, and Chuck D, this electrifying film offers an intimate look at their uncompromising vision and unwavering connection with their global army of fans.”

It comes after the east London icons celebrated their fiftieth anniversary last summer. This year they’ll head to Knebworth for EddFest, a two-day event which takes it name from their legendary mascot, Eddie.

Support for those shows comes from The Darkness, The Hu, Airbourne and The Almighty, while it will also include the biggest Eddie’s Dive Bar ever.
