Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has revealed he suffered a mild concussion after being hit by a phone thrown by a fan during a recent show.

The metal titans were playing at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis as part of their US tour on Monday night (May 11), when a fan in the audience threw a phone onto the stage – which then hit him in the head.

Footage reveals the unfortunate moment took place when the band performed 2015’s ‘Happy Song’ during an early part of the gig. As Sykes kneeled down at the front of the stage, the phone was seen to hit him in his left temple.

“Who the fuck just threw a phone at my fuckin’ head?” Sykes asked, before checking to see if he was bleeding. He was also seen to rub his temple throughout the show, while an expected rendition of ‘YOUtopia’ was removed from the set.

Posting on Instagram after the show, Sykes revealed he had suffered a mild concussion from the incident.

“Alright everyone – just wanted to let you know I’m all good. The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already,” he wrote.

“Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I’m sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance,” he added. “Appreciate everyone checking in and worrying about me though. Everything should be fine for tonight’s gig.”

The band went on to perform a scheduled show in Kansas City last night (May 12) and the rest of their North American tour dates are set to continue as planned.

They will return to the UK in July for two special shows in Manchester where they will play  their seminal debut album Count Your Blessings in full. They will play the record, alongside other hits, on July 10 at Manchester’s B.E.C. Arena in association with Outbreak Festival.

The line-up also features an impressive line-up co-curated between Outbreak and Bring Me themselves, with Static Dress, Rolo Tomassi, Dying Wish, Heriot, Car Underwater and Still In Love all slated to play.
