Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama have shared a snippet of a new song collaboration, ‘Beg For You’.

It now looks like a release is imminent after Charli drummed up further anticipation for its release recently, now sharing today (January 21) what appears to be a behind-the-scenes clip on TikTok of the pair shooting the song’s accompanying music video.

A section of the new dance tune is played over the top of the video posted on Sawayama‘s TikTok. “BEG FOR YOU is coming @charlixcx 😭🤍 here is a little taste because we love u !!!!! are u ready !!!!?? #popmusic #newmusic,” Sawayama wrote in the caption.

The track also appears to sample the recognisable chorus of the 2005 hit ‘Cry For You’ by September.

On Wednesday (January 19) Charli wrote on Twitter “i hope you guys are hungry…” indicating that the new song is nearing release. She previously played a snippet of the track last month during a livestream with fans.

Last September, Charli shared ‘Good Ones’, the first taste of her fifth album ‘CRASH‘, which is released on March 18.

She also released a song collaboration with Caroline Polachek and Christine and the Queens, ‘New Shapes‘, last November, which appears on her new album.

Sawayama has also teased what to expect for her next record, sharing that writing on Zoom during lockdown “somehow they yielded good songs”.

Speaking in a recent interview with Music Week, the singer said that she is trying to round up the writing process for her second studio album, which she hopes will be out this year.

“So much of it was written during lockdown on Zoom sessions, which I hated. But somehow they yielded good songs,” she said.

The pop artist said that she is “just trying to finish writing [the album]”, adding: “I’m working with some incredible people. I’ve got a couple of songs with [producer] Paul Epworth.”

She also shared that she is working with electronic musician Stuart Price on much of the album, who has worked with the likes of MadonnaDua Lipa and New Order.

“Most of the songs were started with me and Clarence Clarity, so it’s still got that core that [her debut] ‘Sawayama’ had,” she said.
