Coldplay have today (October 14) unveiled details of a new sustainable world tour.

The group will tour new album, ‘Music Of The Spheres’ – which is set for release tomorrow (October 15) – globally around stadiums in 2022.

The tour will begin on March 18 2022 and will see Coldplay appearing in Costa Rica for the first time, followed by dates in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, USA, Germany, Poland, France, Belgium and finally the UK.

Support from the shows will come from H.E.R as well as London Grammar at selected shows. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on October 22 at 10am BST and will be available here.

However, UK fans pre-ordering the album from the official Coldplay store will get access to the tickets for London and Glasgow shows first. More dates are expected to follow soon.

The group have also said the tour will feature a number of sustainability initiatives and environmental commitments including cutting direct emissions by 50 per cent compared to their most recent tour and powering their shows by “renewable, super-low emission energy.”

Coldplay have also pledged to cut down more CO2 emissions and will plant one tree for every ticket sold.

Other pledges at the gig will see free drinking water on offer to eliminate the need for plastic bottles, ten per cent of all earnings from the tour will be put into a fund for socially-conscious causes. The group are also setting up a partnership with climate change experts at Imperial College London to asses the impact of the tour – both positively and negatively – on the environment.

Speaking about the move, Coldplay said in a statement: “Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.

“At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.

We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far. If you’d like to come to a show and sing with us, we’re so excited to see you.”
