Experimental singer and YouTuber Look Mum No Computer will represent the United Kingdom at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

The 36-year-old, real name Sam Battle, has developed a cult online following for his compositions, which notably use a wide array of unconventional equipment and machines.

Battle was announced as the UK act live on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this morning (February 17).

“I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey,” he said.

“I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year, so getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously.”

He added: “I’ve been working a long-time creating, writing, and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process.

“I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear and see what we’ve created.”

He concluded: “I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesized!”

Battle’s song for the competition is yet to be unveiled, but he began his career in 2014 as the frontman of indie rock band Zibra.

He launched his YouTube channel in 2016 and has chalked up over 85 million views and 1.4million combined followers.

Battle’s unusual compositions have seen him create organs made from Furbies and Game Boys, synthesizer bicycles, flame throwing keyboards, and a Star Wars droid orchestra. He has also received a Guinness World Record for building the world’s largest drone synthesizer, and has curated and opened a museum displaying his curious creations.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Look Mum No Computer representing the UK at Eurovision in Vienna in 2026. His bold vision, unique sound and electric performance style make him a truly unforgettable artist. Look Mum No Computer embodies everything the UK wants to celebrate on the Eurovision stage – creativity, ambition, and a distinctly British wit. I am sure he will make us all proud on the international stage in May.”

The UK finished in 19th place last year with ‘What The Hell Just Happened’ by girl group Remember Monday.
