Jamie T’s long-awaited new album is finished, producer reveals
The anticipated follow-up to 2016's 'Trick' will arrive this year

Jamie T is set to release his long-awaited fifth album this year, according to his producer.
The London singer-songwriter dropped his latest full-length record, ‘Trick’, back in 2016 ahead of a collection of B-sides in 2018. Announcing the latter project, T promised that “new music is on its way… when it’s ready.”
Taking to Twitter on Monday (January 3), engineer and producer Jag Jago wrote: “Jamie T album 5. Done. Seriously looking forward to 2022!” You can see that tweet below.
Jago has previously worked with the likes of The Maccabees, Jessie Ware, The Magic Gang and Matt Maltese.
Since the release of ‘Trick’, T – real name Jamie Treays – has earned co-writing credits on Miles Kane’s 2018 album, ‘Coup De Grace’. During an interview with NME, Kane explained that Treays “brought lots to the table” in terms of ideas.
“We wrote a lot of tunes,” he said. Definitely [T] helped me lyrically. I tend to fall in the trap of using less words and spacing out the sentences – trying to be coronary, I guess.”
Last October, it was revealed that T had been in the studio with Carl Barât of The Libertines. The pair were pictured together alongside The Prodigy’s Olly Burden. “Da boys in the band… Been cookin’ up some dope lit sick shiz innit,” Barât wrote as the caption.
It came after Treays posted a picture of himself with Barât in May 2021, when he visited The Albion Rooms, The Libertines’ Margate hotel.
“Met some wonderful people through the years. [Carl Barât] has to be one of my favourite. U r my guitar hero brother,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “[The Albion Rooms, Margate] Thankyou for having me.”
Jamie T is yet to officially confirm details of his forthcoming new album, which will presumably lead to a live return. According to Setlist.FM, the ‘Sheila’ singer hasn’t played a show since his appearance at Bestival in September 2017.
‘Trick’ peaked at Number Three in the UK albums chart, per the Official Charts Company. It is the musician’s second highest-charting record behind 2009’s ‘Kings & Queens’, which landed at Number Two.
