Kanye West has discussed meeting with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in a series of fresh campaign videos to support his apparent 2024 presidential run.

It comes after the controversial rapper announced his White House run earlier this week, marking his second bid after a wildly unsuccessful attempt in 2020. It has now been revealed that West visited Trump – who announced his candidacy last week – at his Mar a Lago resort.

West confirmed the visit on Wednesday (November 23) after he was spotted at Miami airport with Nick Fuentes, a right-wing activist with documented links to the far right. He said on Twitter it was his first time at Trump’s Florida resort and claimed he had asked the former president “to be my running mate in 2024.”

In a presidential campaign video shared earlier today (November 25) titled ‘MAR-A-LAGO DEBRIEF’, the rapper elaborates on what happened when the pair met.

He said his offer for Trump to be his vice president was “lower on the list of things that caught [Trump] off guard”, before the pair talked about the importance of loyal supporters and went on to discuss the January 6 insurrection.

In a later section, West goes on to discuss ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s successful efforts to have Trump grant clemency to prisoner Alice Johnson in 2018. West claims that Trump said he didn’t “get [Johnson] out of jail… for Kim, he did it for me.”

The meeting ended on a sour note too, according to Kanye. He concludes the video by claiming that “Trump started basically screaming at me…telling me I was going to lose,” to which he is said to have replied “You’re talking to Ye.”

Kanye memorably met Trump in New York after the latter won the Presidency in 2016, and went on to visit him at the White House during his one term in office.

West has faced significant backlash in recent months after posting a series of antisemitic remarks online. He was suspended from Twitter and Instagram and lost a string of lucrative commercial deals – including one with Adidas who officially severed their Yeezy partnership with the rapper.
