Watch Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds surprise Brighton fans with rooftop gig ahead of homecoming show tonight
An up-close-and-personal affair ahead of tonight's big Brighton gig.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds had a welcome surprise up their sleeves for fans in Brighton earlier today (July 31) by performing a surprise pop-up gig on the roof of Resident Records ahead of their massive homecoming show tonight.
The band will headline Preston Park this evening, with support from The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher.
But hours before that big show, fans were treated to a gig on the roof of Resident Records in Brighton’s North Lane. “Fucking Brighton! What a thing to be doing. Can you all see?” said Cave as he greeted the crowd.
The four-song set saw the Bad Seeds perform ‘Train Long-Suffering’ before they went straight into their relaxing cover of T. Rex‘s ‘Cosmic Dancer’.
Teasing fans with their third song, Cave said they only had one more before going into PJ Harvey duet ‘Henry Lee’ with backing singer Janet Ramus taking on Harvey‘s role.
Concluding the set, Cave said “We’re gonna try do one more,” before closing with ‘Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry’, which saw Cave paying tribute to his wife Suzie, who was watching the show. “See you tonight!” he said.
