Sports Team announce second album ‘Gulp!’ with new single ‘R Entertainment’
The follow-up to 2020 debut album 'Deep Down Happy' arrives this summer
Sports Team have announced details of their second studio album, ‘Gulp!’ – listen to its first single, ‘R Entertainment’, below.
The six-piece band will release the follow-up to their 2020 debut album ‘Deep Down Happy’ on July 22 via Island Records.
Speaking of ‘R Entertainment’, the band said in a statement that their comeback single discusses “the packaging down of all human experience into entertainment, prompted by the infinite scroll through social feeds and the manic formlessness of the images we are hit with every day.
“Graphic news interrupted by ads for season 17 of The Bodyguard, news as a rubbernecking, passively waiting for the next drop of horror as we flick through recipes.”

Around the new album’s release, Sports Team will play a pair of shows in support of The Libertines on Pete’n’Carl’s 20th anniversary tour for debut album ‘Up The Bracket’.
The bands will play massive outdoor gigs at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl (July 1) and Bute Park in Cardiff (August 5).
Late last year, a couple got engaged at a Sports Team show at the University Stylus venue in Leeds. During the set, couple Will and Susannah took to the stage before Will got down on one knee to propose to Susannah.
Sports Team posted a photo of the happy moment on their Twitter the morning after, writing: “Congrats Will and Susannah, a marriage built on the Leeds Stylus stage is a marriage built to last.”
