The 1975 have announced new album Being Funny In A Foreign Language and shared the tracklist – check it out below.

Postcards with the title of the follow-up to 2020’s Notes On A Conditional Form are being shared among fans, but a release date is yet to be confirmed.

Matty Healy and co. will return with their new single ‘Part Of The Band’ on July 7, having teased the song’s lyrics and a snippet of the instrumentals yesterday.

The new album features 11 songs, and will continue their tradition of opening the record with a self-titled intro song, which always has the same lyrics against different music.

Last month, posters began popping up over London featuring Healy and a July 7 date. “Your new album. Your new era. Your old friends. The 1975,” they wrote on social media.

The band first confirmed they were working on new music earlier this year, when Healy took to Instagram to share a one-minute black-and-white video titled “Part 5, Day 1”. Last August, the frontman also told fans on Instagram that he was “making another ‘classic record’”.

New billboards also feature the lyrics for ‘Part Of The Band’, which is track four on the album. Late yesterday (June 28) Healy shared a brief snippet of the song’s jazz-inspired instrumentals, which you can listen to here.

The lyrics begin: “She was part of the airforce / I was part of the band / I always used to bust into her hand / In my imagination I was living my best life / Living with my parents / Way before the paying penance and verbal propellants / And my cancellation.”

Other lyrics reference “so many cringes and heroin binges”, while another line reads “I like my men like I like my coffee, full of soy milk and so sweet”.

The band have not performed live since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, performing their last show in Dublin. But the group are booked to appear at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in August, headlining alongside rapper Post Malone.
