The Amazons have released ‘Ready for Something’, their second single from upcoming album ‘How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?’.
Produced by Jim Abbiss, the Reading band have also collaborated with Maggie Rogers for their third album and first since 2019’s ‘Future Dust’.
Lead singer Matt Thompson says ‘Ready for Something’ is a “scratching the walls kind of song”.
He added: “You’ve been in the cage for far too long and you are ready. Ready to live, ready to experience, ready to make mistakes. Anything.”
The Amazons have also said that the new album will mark a departure away from the darker sound of their first two releases.
Thompson says: “I said to the boys, enough with the darkness. As cheesy as it sounds, I wanted to make music that was a force for good, after everything we’ve all been through. It’s easily our most joyous album. Sonically we set out to celebrate the return of real life and the communal experience of being back at shows.”
The band have also recently announced a headline UK tour for later in the year.
Starting on 5 October in Dublin, The Amazons will go on to play dates in Belfast, Manchester, Nottingham, Southampton, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow, Norwich, Newcastle and London.
They are also set to appear at a number of festivals across the summer including Isle of Wight on 18 June which is headlined by Lewis Capaldi, Kasabian, Pete Tong and Muse.
The Amazons will headline the 110 Above Festival in Leicestershire along with Everything Everything and Sea Girls.
‘How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?’ is scheduled to be released on 2 September.
