Leading figures from across the world of music are reacting to Adele’s first song in six years after the midnight arrival of ‘Easy on Me’ on Friday (October 15).

The heartwrenching ballad is the first track from her forthcoming new album ‘30’, coming on November 19.

Lil Nas X said in a now deleted tweet that the British singer’s return was “so good” adding: “it’s so crazy to think the last time adele released new music i was sitting on stan twitter. I feel like i’m 15 again.”

Normani said: “ADELE oh ADELE i love uuuuuuuuuu”, while over on Instagram, Drake shared a supportive tribute to Adele on to his story: “One of my best friends in the world just dropped a single” he wrote, followed by a trio of love hearts.

Former One Direction star Niall Horan also showed love for the single, sharing that he was listening on spotify with a love heart emoji.

The emotional ballad’s impact was widespread across the entertainment world, with ‘Clueless’ star Alicia Silverstone sharing “Go easy on me @Adele… you always make me cry.”

The moving music video for ‘Easy on Me’ opens with black-and-white footage before transitioning in colour. It opens with the singer leaving her home, driving away in her car past a ‘sold’ house sign.

Sheets of music fly out of the car as she plays a cassette tape. “Go easy on me, baby / I was still a child / Didn’t get the chance to / Feel the world around me,” she sings.

In a post shared to social media on Wednesday (October 13) confirming the album release date, she shared the journey she embarked on to record new music, which she hopes will help explain her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki to their nine-year-old son.

She said: “I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my feeling again. I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life.

“And so, I’m ready to finally put this album out.”
