A club in north London will close with a New Year’s Eve party after a range of issues have brought its tenure to a close.

The Cause, which first opened as a one room, 400-capacity nightclub in 2018 in Tottenham, went on to enjoy three years spotlighting underground music.

But encroaching property development and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have contributed to its need to close.

Now, The Cause will bow out with an all area NYE day and night festival called Goodbye Sweetheart. Acts including KiNK live, Job Jobse, Steffi & Virginia, Shanti Celeste, Call Super, Midland, Optimo, Bens Sims, DJ Storm, and Grooverider will perform.

Stuart Glen, co-founder of The Cause, said [vi Clash]: “Not in our wildest dreams did we ever believe The Cause would have achieved so much in our time at Ashley Road. The community that surrounds our club is like nothing else in the country, we’ve developed several grass roots artists and promoters, raised a huge amount for charity and created what many people constantly tell me is the best club in London.

“There really is nowhere like it right now and as sad as I am to see it go, I’m much more thankful that we actually made it happen. Big love to everyone that played their part in this.”

Eugene Wild, co-founder of The Cause, added: “The space has grown over the last three and a half years to the beast it is now. We never stopped moving forward, always trying to improve the experience of our parties and the offer for our punters. Somehow, we’ve managed to go from a 400 capacity intimate club to what is basically a mini festival site without ever losing the intimacy and home grown vibe, selling out numerous day and night parties that will be remembered forever.”

Tickets are available to buy for the closing party. Arrive before 11pm (first release) tickets have already sold out.

Arrive before 11pm (early bird) are priced at £25 with a £2.50 booking fee, with later arrivals (before 6pm, 4pm and 2pm) dropping in scaled price. Head here for details.
