Yungblud has teamed up with The Smashing Pumpkins for a new amped-up version of his song ‘Zombie’.
The new track is a reimagined take on the single, taken from 2025’s Idols, and sees Harrison sharing vocals with legendary Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan.
“Yungblud’s star shines bright, so it’s been great fun to lend our zig-zag voice to his ‘Zombie’ which he’s said was inspired by one of our own”, said Corgan. “Hence the encouragement that we make this rendition as personal as possible and I’m proud to say we’ve done that; if only to honor him in return.”
An official music video of the collab is expected to land later today (January 2).
The pair first met during Black Sabbath’s Back To The Beginning farewell gig at Villa Park last summer, where both artists delivered their own emotional tributes to Ozzy Osbourne.
Their connection predates that gig, however, with Corgan stating that he first admired Yungblud from afar after watching a video of one of his live performances.
“I can tell where he’s going, and if I’m right, we’ll be talking about him for the next 50 years,” Corgan told Allison Hagendorf in 2023.
Yungblud also recently appeared on Corgan’s podcast The Magnificent Ones, where he was likened to Elton John.
“This is the person that I most compare you to… Elton John. And what I mean by that is you can sing pop, you can sing a ballad and that crowd will go with you,” said Corgan. “You could do a ‘Tiny Dancer’-type song and it would feel great and credible but you can also sing rock.”
Late last year, Yungblud also teamed up with Aerosmith for the EP One More Time. You can read Rolling Stone UK’s exclusive cover feature with the artist and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry here.
