Portishead are set to share a rare performance as part of this month’s Together For Palestine benefit concert.

The Brian Eno-curated gig was announced last month, with the likes of PinkPantheressDamon AlbarnJamie xxHot ChipKing Krule and more taking over London’s Wembley Arena on September 17.

A second wave of artists have now been announced, including a special pre-recorded performance from Portishead – the trio’s first performance in three years, and only second in a decade.

Elsewhere, others to join the line-up include Benedict Cumberbatch, Celeste, Leigh-Anne, Louis Theroux and Guy Pearce.

The gig – now sold out – will raise funds for the Together For Palestine Fund, with 100 per cent of the ticket price going to Choose Love in their efforts to support Palestinian-led organisations providing humanitarian relief.

Instead of buying a ticket, fans are now encouraged to buy merch and donate directly to the charities.

Portishead said of their involvement: “We are incredibly honoured to stand in solidarity with Palestine and be part of this crucial event. The genocide must stop.”

Guy Pearce added: “I feel utterly heartbroken every day witnessing the atrocities inflicted upon the innocent people of Palestine. It’s hard not to feel helpless. Being part of this concert will enable me to share my heart with others who also see the injustice in these horrific crimes. More importantly it enables me to show my support for and to the people of Gaza, and all those subjected to this brutal genocide. Hopefully this concert encourages more people to stand up and speak out.”

A month later, on October 17, Paul WellerInhaler and Primal Scream will play a Gig For Gaza at London’s Troxy venue. Funds from the show will be donated directly to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and Gaza Forever.

Recently, Massive Attack announced an alliance for musicians who are facing “intimidations from within” the music industry over their support of Palestine and Gaza. The band shared a statement on Instagram saying they hope help protect other artists from the “organised censorship” many have experienced after speaking out.
