Sam Fender shares cinematic video for single ‘Get You Down’
The music video was directed by Hector Dockrill, who is known for his work with Stormzy, Jorja Smith and Ray Blk

Sam Fender has released the music video for his track ‘Get You Down’, taken from his recent album ‘Seventeen Going Under’.
Similarly to his previous video for his single ‘Spit Of You’, which starred Stephen Graham, the video for ‘Get You Down’ sees Fender take the lead role and show off his acting skills.
The video, directed by Hector Dockrill, is set on a racetrack, with Fender driving around alongside a female love interest. Opening to scenes set in a caravan, the visuals show Fender riding around the racetrack and arguing with her in the car, before getting injured in an accident.
The introspective, punchy single is one of the more “personal” tracks on ‘Seventeen Going Under’. Lyrically, ‘Get You Down’ is about defiance and pushing through trauma.
Commenting on the single, Fender said “The whole record is about growing up and the self-esteem issues that you carry into your adult life.” He added “This song in particular is about how insecurity has affected my relationships. Definitely one of the more personal ones”.
The track was recorded in 2019, and Fender told NME it’s “a fucking absolute heart-churner”. He continued “It’s kinda like ‘The Borders’,” adding, “the fans love things like that, and they love ‘Seventeen Going Under’. It’s a great follow-up to ‘Seventeen’; it’s a really good festival song.”
Fender’s latest album, ‘Seventeen Going Under’ reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, making the record his second number one after his debut album, ‘Hypersonic Missiles’
Speaking about the achievement, Fender said, “Whew here, this is pure lethal! Absolutely buzzing. Big love to my band and team – without them it would not be possible”. The album received critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone UK giving it a rating of four stars, and The Guardian awarding it five stars.
The musician has joined the line-up for the 2022 Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, alongside Florence + The Machine, Arlo Parks, Haim and Chvrches.
Sam Fender has also announced an extra homecoming show in Newcastle at Utilita Arena. The musician will perform there on April 5 and 6.
