The 1975 have teased the arrival of a project entitled ‘Part of the Band’.

The band started previously teasing new material last month when posters began popping up over London featuring frontman Matty Healy and a 7 July date.

While not confirming whether ‘Part of the Band’ is an album or a single or something else entirely, the band have confirmed that it will arrive on 7 July.

The pop group posted the title and date on social media along with a picture of Healy walking across windy sand dunes carrying a giant backpack.

The 1975 have not released any new music since 2020’s ‘Notes on a Conditional Form’.

They had earlier teased the release of a new album on social media by tweeting: “Your new album. Your new era. Your old friends. The 1975.”

They also haven’t performed live since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic but are booked to appear at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in August.

The band are headlining the festival along with rapper Post Malone.

Other artists scheduled to appear on the same day as The 1975 are Rina Sawayama, Kacey Musgraves, The Libertines and St Vincent.

Elsewhere at the two-site festival will be performances from Primal Scream, Megan Thee Stallion, Kasabian, Yungblud and Griff.
