The National have returned with two brand new songs – listen to ‘Space Invader’ and ‘Alphabet City’ below.

The two tracks follow the band’s ninth album First Two Pages Of Frankenstein, which was released earlier this year.

It’s not been hinted yet whether the tracks are part of a new upcoming full-length project from The National, or just one-off singles.

For now, listen to both tracks below.

First Two Pages Of Frankenstein was released back in April and featured guests including Taylor SwiftSufjan Stevens and Phoebe Bridgers.

At the time, frontman Matt Berninger said the album was born from a “very dark spot where I couldn’t come up with lyrics or melodies at all. Even though we’d always been anxious whenever we were working on a record, this was the first time it ever felt like maybe things really had come to an end.”

He went on to say that the band “managed to come back together and approach everything from a different angle, and because of that we arrived at what feels like a new era for the band.”

See the band’s UK and Irish tour dates below.
