Apple is set to open a new music venue inside London’s Battersea Power Station, marking the tech giant’s first ever permanent performance space in the UK.

The 600 capacity Apple Music Hall is located within Apple Music’s European HQ and will centre around a 38-foot wide stage that be reconfigured in a number of ways, as well as a 48-speaker spatial sound system.

Rolling Stone UK got a sneak peak at the venue earlier this month. Though a small space, it’s an impressive one too. The state-of-the-art space provides full production capabilities, with two recording and mix studios allowing each performance to be captured as a multitrack recording and mixed in Spatial Audio, live or after the show. Performances out of Apple Music Hall will also be live-streamed globally so fans outside of London can tune in to see one-time-only shows from an array of artists.

In addition, it boasts some of the fanciest backstage facilities, en-suite bathrooms and all, we have ever seen, while new Apple Music Studios will allow artists to record interviews, mixes and additional content on the day of their performance.

“At Apple Music, we care deeply about music, the artists who make it, and their life stories,” said Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director and lead anchor for Apple Music 1. “We’re always looking for new opportunities to connect the artists and the fans because we are fans. What better way to celebrate this relationship than a new music venue where we get to experience amazing music in an amazing space and share it with the world. Great music and memories will be made at Apple Music Hall.”

Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, said: “This is a huge vote of confidence in the UK as a global creative powerhouse. When a company of Apple’s scale backs British music and talent, it’s a signal of just how strong our creative sectors really are. Our industrial strategy is all about making Britain one of the best places in the world to invest, and the creative industries are a key part of that. These sectors are not only a source of immense national pride, but they also deliver real economic value for the country.”

An opening date is set to be announced in the coming months.
