London’s newest music venue, British Airways ARC, opened its doors last night with a show from Self Esteem.

The venue takes up the site of the former Earls Court Olympia after an extensive redevelopment, and it was up to Rebecca Lucy Taylor to open proceedings at the 3800 capacity room.

Dressed in the nun-like attire that graced her third album A Complicated Woman, the singer opened with ‘I Do and I Don’t Care’, before delivering a set which weaved throughout her solo career.

“Welcome to the British Airways Arc,” announced Taylor early on. “Let’s give this place the energy it needs!”

The set also saw Taylor flanked by two inflatable figures on ‘Cheers to Me’, while a steady flow of dancers flanked her throughout. The show concluded with the anthemic ‘I Do This All The Time’ and ‘Focus Is Power’.

Taylor will play another show at the venue tonight, while others shows at the Arc in the coming months include The Black Keys, Van Morrison and Puscifer.
