Kaiser Chiefs fans have criticised the band after frontman Ricky Wilson was allegedly “forgetting lyrics” and “slurring” his words during a show over the weekend.

The criticism emerged from their show at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday (November 5), with many voicing their displeasure on social media.

One fan alleged: “What an absolute shit show! @KaiserChiefs @TheO2 tonight. Ricky Wilson was absolutely wasted. Slurring, forgetting lyrics, stumbling all over the place, repeatedly telling the crowd that he didn’t want to be there. Never seen an arena empty out early, so quickly.”

Another said: “Ricky Wilson pissed/high tonight, not impressed. We paid to see #KaiserChiefs not to watch a drunken wedding singer! Out of order.”

Some even called on the band/venue to issue refunds for disgruntled fans.

“Kaiser Chiefs anything to say about last-night? EVEN an apology for what we had to endure,” said one.

“We all support you and are fans but this followed by Ricky announcing he didn’t even want to be there was not great. I just pray whatever was wrong with Ricky he is ok now.”

The band is yet to respond to the criticism, while a representative for Kaiser Chiefs refused to comment when approached by Rolling Stone UK.

It comes after Kaiser Chiefs shared their new single ‘How 2 Dance’ last week.

Speaking to NME about plans for a new album, Wilson added: ““I think I have December to finish the record,” he said. “I guess we’ll have something early next year. But it’s so different than it used to be. It’s amazing: we don’t have any homework to hand in – it’s not like school. There’s no time limit, and I can do what I want. But I reckon I’d like to have a record out next year.”
