A man has reportedly died after he fell 40ft from an escalator while attending a concert by The Weeknd in Philadelphia.

The 32-year-old, whose identity has not yet been revealed, is said to have died last Thursday (July 14) from major head trauma after what has been described as an accidental fall.

No foul play is suspected, reports the  Philadelphia Inquirer, but the incident occurred at 10.47pm at Lincoln Financial Field on the first night of the singer’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ stadium tour.

The man is believed to have been sitting on the escalator rail before he fell. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Friday (July 15).

The Inquirer reports that the concert had finished and people were leaving the home of the Philadelphia Eagles when the incident occurred.

Elsewhere, yesterday saw the arrival of the first teaser trailer for the Weeknd’s new HBO series The Idol.

The show stars Lily-Rose Depp and the Weeknd as himself, co-created with Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson, in which Depp stars as a rising pop star who becomes romantically involved with a cult leader.

The trailer teases the series as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood”, and also stars Blackpink’s Jennie, Troye Sivan, Anne Heche and Melanie Liburd.

Earlier this year, the singer stepped in to headline Coachella, replacing Kanye West along with Swedish House Mafia.
