Paramore have announced that their comeback single will be titled ‘This is Why’, and will be released later this month.

The trio, whose latest album After Laughter was released in 2017, have been hinting about their return on social media across the last few weeks.

Recently, Paramore posted a brief clip of what sounded like a new song on their Discord and added two Los Angeles concerts to their intimate North America tour that kicks off next month, marking their first live performances in more than four years.

Today (16 September) Paramore shared a photo of them squeezed up against a glass pane with the caption: “‘This is Why,’ the song. Sept 28.”

Earlier this year Paramore revealed that they were in the studio working on their new album.

At the time, singer Hayley Williams explained that she and guitarist Taylor York had been reminiscing over some of their earliest influences before they began writing their sixth record. Despite an affinity with emo music, they said in January that fans shouldn’t necessarily expect a “comeback ’emo’ record”.

This summer saw the frontperson provide another update on Paramore’s sixth album. Williams said on her Everything is Emo podcast that it’s been inspired partly by Bloc Party.
