Fans of Taylor Swift have predicted that she will feature on Ed Sheeran’s next single, which is a reworked version of his 2021 track ‘The Joker And The Queen’.

Earlier this week (February 1) Sheeran posted an Instagram photo of signed CDs for “something coming in a bit”. The artwork features the joker on a playing card below the queen of hearts.

Last December Sheeran told Capital FM that the reworked single, taken from his latest album ‘=‘, would feature a US artist and that he was hoping for a January release.

Swift sold decks of ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ playing cards on her online store last year which, coupled with Sheeran’s recent Instagram snap, has now prompted fans to think that Swift is the collaborator in question.

It’s not the first time that the pair have left Easter eggs linking to one another.

In the October 2021 music video for ‘Overpass Graffiti’, Sheeran wears a leather jacket with an image of a joker and a queen on the back. A badge that reads “Taylor Swift” can be seen underneath it.

Likewise, in Swift’s video for ‘I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)’ she draws an equals sign onto a wedding cake, which appears to be a nod to Sheeran’s ‘=’.

The pair’s last collaboration was ‘Run’, taken from ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, which was released last year.

‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ is the latest re-recorded by Swift after the rights to her records were sold by her former record label without her permission. The pop star is remaking all of her albums up to 2017’s ‘Reputation’ and has so far released new versions of ‘Red’ and ‘Fearless’.

In other news, Sheeran has been named as the top-played artist in the world on radio stations.

The singer-songwriter has had his songs played on the radio 4.3 million times over the past 12 months. His biggest hits over the last year that contribute to the total include ‘Merry Christmas’, his festive duet with Elton John which hit Number One in the UK charts in December, and tracks from his most recent album, which spawned another chart-topping hit in ‘Bad Habits’.
