BLACKPINK shut it down at Paris Fashion Week with dark glamour looks
Fashion Week can often be hit and miss, but the BLACKPINK girls will always bring it with their style.
Last year, when Rosé forgot her her scooter-suitcase (BLACKPINK‘s chosen mode of transport, whizzing around everywhere from airports, stages and corridors around the world,) Jisoo announced that the “era of walking is back.” The chaotic suitcase-scooter era may be over, but BLACKPINK’s reign on the runway continues. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé all have plenty of fashion brand endorsements under their belt, gracing billboards, ad campaigns and show front-rows for luxury brands. This season proved no different, as the fantastic four were invited by four of the biggest French fashion houses for Autumn Winter 2024/25 fashion week. The K-pop quartet, known for their close bond were in-tune with their style this season, opting for tougher, darker looks with touches of goth at every turn. As per usual, whatever they wore, they maintained their effortlessly cool aesthetic that they always achieve with aplomb and stole the show everywhere they went.
Unni Jisoo attended the Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2024/25 in a Wednesday Addams-meets ‘Kill Bill’ ensemble that had a cool toughness to it. Jisoo, playfully nicknamed ‘Miss Korea’ by Blinks for her strong visuals, has always showcased her versatility with her styling. She’s done everything from Heather’s inspired yellow-plaid outfits from Dior, to flowing and lace gowns, to more streetwear looks. Her crisp, strongly silhouetted tailoring look for the Dior FW24/25 show was a fun nod to her latest business venture, having announced her solo label BLISSOO just the other week. Bonus points for the Wednesday pigtail plaits with the ribbons that fit her outfit perfectly.
Rosé is often known for her great sense of casual style, with fashion publications often making listicles of her best ‘off duty’ and ‘casual cool’ outfits, but ‘Pasta’ (as Jisoo likes to call her) also knows how to bring the fashion with her looks. At Saint Laurent, Rosie sported classic style sunglasses with a slick middle parting in her hair, whilst wearing a sheer and floaty number by creative director Anthony Vaccarello. As always, Rosie gave a full on realised Saint Laurent cool girl concept on her instagram grid, sipping Espresso Martini’s, draping herself around her hotel, before being snapped with Zoë Kravitz and Lily Collins on the Saint Laurent frow. Always one to commit to her character, the sunglasses stayed on the entire time, which we applaud.
Jennie’s nickname of ‘Human Gucci’ due to her love for luxury brands, was swiftly changed to ‘Human Chanel’/ ‘Chanel Girl’ when she was made brand ambassador for the couture house in 2017. For February’s Chanel show, Jennie styled out one of the most popular trends of the season ‘balletcore’ but infused it it with toughness, wearing a Chanel SS 23 Haute Couture Chanel monochrome floaty layered, spaghetti strap dress, toughening it up with plenty metal-wear including stacked necklaces and wrist-wear, a single, fingerless leather glove and knee-high boots. It was giving us Natalie Portman in the iconic noir film, The Black Swan, which is always a winning style reference to channel, especially in Chanel.
Louis Vuitton was full of K-pop surprises, with Felix from Stray Kids walking the runway for Creative Director Nicholas Ghesquiére’s 10th anniversary show for Louis Vuitton womenswear. Another huge moment at the show was Lisa attending. Previously attached to another Paris fashion house, we can definitely see BLACKPINK’s maknae becoming part of the infamous ‘Ghesquière’s Louis Vuitton Girl Gang.’ The elite group includes the likes of Zendaya, Alicia Vikander, Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, Jennifer Connolly and Doona Bae.
Lisa continued the toughened-up style that the rest of the members had put out for Paris fashion week, wearing an archival Louis Vuitton look that included a multi-coloured embroidered coat that she hardened up with leather shorts and thigh high stockings. Known for being a good study (the internet is full of videos of her almost-instantly picking up new choreography after one try) she will have surely loved to study over the two archive collections she wore for the show, sporting a second archive look for the after-show party.
Fashion week can often be hit and miss – or, to quote Jisoo on another topic, ‘not bad, but not good’ – but one thing is always constant, the BLACKPINK girls will always bring it with their style.
