Kendrick Lamar is set to perform long-awaited new material during a headline set in Milan this summer.

The rapper, who released his most recent album ‘DAMN.’ in 2017, returned to the stage at Las Vegas’ Day N Vegas festival last November. It marked his first live performance in two years, having played the same event back in 2019.

Lamar then featured as a guest in last weekend’s star-studded Super Bowl 2022 halftime show. Many fans speculated that a new single could emerge to coincide with the high-profile appearance, though nothing has materialised as of yet. It came after the artist changed his official Spotify profile last October.

This week, it’s been confirmed that Lamar will perform a headline concert at the Ippodromo SNAI San Siro in Milan, Italy on Thursday, June 23 as part of the Milano Summer Festival. You can see the announcement post below.

An official listing on the event’s website reads (translated from Italian): “Kendrick Lamar returns to Italy with a super anticipated show which, produced and distributed by Vivo Concerti, will see him perform – after 8 years from his first performance in Italy, in 2014 – at the Milan Summer Festival (Ippodromo Snai) [on] Thursday 23 June 2022.”

The description goes on to state that Lamar “will play pieces of the new album, long awaited by fans” during the upcoming Milan gig, which is currently the star’s only scheduled live performance of the year.

Ticket information and further details can be found here.

Kendrick Lamar’s newly-announced Italian show falls in the same week as Glastonbury 2022, reigniting rumours that he could top the bill on the Pyramid Stage. The rapper was announced as one of the headliners for Glastonbury 2020, which was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

So far, organisers have confirmed that Billie Eilish will headline the Friday night (June 24) with Diana Ross set to take on the coveted Legends Slot on Sunday (26). It’s not yet known whether Paul McCartney – who was also booked for Glastonbury 2020 – will return to fulfil his planned bill-topping set.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Little Simz will headline Glasto’s West Holts Stage on an as-yet-unspecified day. It came ahead of Simz being crowned Best New Artist at the BRIT Awards 2022.

Meanwhile, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has told fans that the initial line-up poster for this year will arrive at some point in March.
