When it comes to everyday wardrobes, TOGA isn’t usually the first brand that comes to mind. Conceptual and otherworldly are more often the boxes Japanese designer Yasuko Furuta ticks. This season, however, she demonstrated that the brand can exist in dualities, presenting a proposition of wearable, elevated basics.

For Spring/Summer 2026 Furuta focused was on transforming everyday garments into pieces that balance practicality with thoughtful experimentation. The collection even celebrated the most humble wardrobe staple: the graphic T-shirt, reimagined with TOGA’s signature attention to detail and texture.

A collaboration with NTS Radio further enriched the presentation, weaving together music, culture, and fashion into a seamless, textural experience that reflected the collection’s playful yet considered sensibility.

The collection played with texture and form: pleat-folded trousers moved with architectural precision, ruffled board shorts introduced a playful, kinetic energy, and sharp satin polo shirts added a polished edge to otherwise approachable silhouettes.

Furuta’s approach was deliberate yet unpretentious. After exploring form and formality in her previous collection, she aimed to step away from complexity or the intellectual pretense of fashion. Her goal was not mere cheerfulness, but a nuanced reflection of the ordinary – a collection that observes and transforms the simple moments of daily life.

Collaborating with NTS Radio – the influential music platform founded by Femi Adeyemi – added a distinct cultural layer, pairing TOGA’s sartorial vision with a dynamic sonic backdrop. The collection demonstrated that Furuta’s design philosophy extends beyond novelty: it’s about observing the ordinary and reimagining it with intelligence, humour, and care.

Through textural experimentation and subtle storytelling, TOGA transformed everyday garments into pieces that feel both approachable and inventive, proving that even the simplest wardrobe staples can carry depth, personality, and a quiet sense of wonder.
